What do you perceive to be the United States' greatest challenges as a nation over the next decade?
I believe the greatest challenge facing the United States over the next decade is whether we can solve our problems without losing our unity. We must restore trust in our institutions, address our growing national debt, strengthen education and economic opportunity, remain competitive in technology and manufacturing, and ensure that hard work still leads to a better life. But none of that will matter if we allow division to overwhelm our sense of shared purpose.
Do you believe that compromise is necessary or desirable for policymaking?
I believe compromise is often necessary in policymaking, but it is not an end in itself. In a diverse nation of more than 300 million people, reasonable people will disagree, and lasting solutions often require finding common ground. At its best, compromise allows progress, respects differing viewpoints, and helps build broad support for policy. However, I do not believe every principle should be negotiable.
What organizations or individuals have endorsed your campaign?
When people ask me who has endorsed my campaign, I understand the question, but I hope voters will judge me by my character, principles, and ideas rather than by a list of names or organizations. I respect anyone who chooses to support me, but endorsements should never replace independent thinking. I’m not running to represent special interests, political machines, wealthy donors, or powerful institutions. I’m running to represent the people of Tennessee. My loyalty is to God, my conscience, the Constitution, and the citizens I seek to serve.
