Where Barrett stands

Position history

Governance

  1. Sept. 1, 2026 (in a statement accepting the WKAR 7th District debate)
I strongly believe that candidate debates are fundamental to showing voters the differences between the candidates. I'm proud of my record of accomplishment in my first term and look forward to continuing to represent mid-Michigan in Congress.

Energy & environment

  1. Oct. 6, 2026 (in the WKAR 7th Congressional District debate on artificial intelligence and data centers)
I believe that we need appropriate regulation for artificial intelligence. I think the federal government needs to take the lead on that, and then where states and locals want to add further protection for privacy and data rights and things like that, I'm certainly very much supportive of that.

Jobs, wages & cost of living

  1. Oct. 6, 2026 (in the WKAR 7th Congressional District debate on crime and public safety)
My opponent doesn't want to answer for his record of repeatedly calling for the defunding of police multiple different times.
