Tariffs on Canada
Here in Michigan, we know that Canada is not our enemy. We need to end this tariff war — now.
We have to make Michigan competitive for new AI-supported jobs and investments that grow our state, while setting a responsible framework for safety and data privacy. We need to make sure data centers pay for all their own power usage so that Michiganders aren't footing the bill in higher rates.
That is why I am calling for a one-year moratorium on new data centers until we establish a fair, transparent approval process that puts local communities first.
President Trump is right to put America First - and tariffs are necessary, but are not a one-size-fits-all solution.

People say, well, 'what date is it going to end?' It shouldn't be a date. It should be conditional.
I don't mind giving the president authority to continue. You can't stop in mid-negotiation. I think that would not be good for America. But I want him to wrap it up.
My argument is to start wrapping it up. We can't be there without an end date or an end to the regime.
We should continue to do that. Find those folks who are committing crimes and get them the heck out of the country
