Where Costa stands

Health care

When COVID-19 struck, I fought to win funding to support our hospitals and community health centers. I’m also leading the effort to build a medical school in the Valley and working with state leaders we secured a $200 million state investment for UC Merced that will work in partnership with UCSF Fresno. I also secured $475,000 for Fresno City College and Fresno State to increase the number of nurse practitioners in the Valley.

Energy & environment

In Congress, I worked to pass the American Rescue Plan, securing billions for California and the San Joaquin Valley – $3.5 billion for drinking water infrastructure, $3.2 billion for aging water projects and $1.15 billion to improve water storage. I helped win $25.3 billion for California highways, including Highways 99 and 41, and $3.3 billion to reduce the risk of wildfires.

Crime & public safety

Throughout my career I’ve worked to ensure safe communities, winning funding to combat gangs and drugs and putting more law enforcement officers on the streets. I am leading efforts to pass the Victims of Child Abuse Act to protect children and strengthen law enforcement response.
