Where Irwin stands

Health care

We must protect Medicare. Trump and Congressional Republicans have significantly cut health care subsidies for everyday Americans. If they have another two years, you can expect that they will come after Medicare and Medicaid next.

Energy & environment

No, I do not support the Trump administration’s efforts. I will aggressively work to oppose any expansion of offshore oil drilling in California.

Crime & public safety

These technologies must be balanced to consider both the public safety benefit of solving crimes and privacy for Californians, but must have oversight to prevent abuse or violations of our privacy. A solution Congress could consider would be to limit the amount of time license plate data can be held, and after a certain date, require a warrant or other extra special permissions to access that data.

Housing

Currently, the out of control inflation caused by Trump’s tariffs and war with Iran is making already high housing prices worse. As inflation continues to rise, the purchasing power of Californians is decreasing, making housing less affordable and even making the cost of rebuilding in the Palisades and Altadena out of reach for disaster victims. We must end these tariffs and the war with Iran.

Technology & AI

If data centers are going to be built in California, we must ensure that the electricity costs aren’t passed on to ratepayers, that we minimize water usage by requiring water recycling, that developers work with local governments to ensure that a data center provides community benefits so that there is local buy-in, and that any environmental impacts are mitigated.
