Position history

  1. 2026 (campaign website)
As Governor, Doug will declare a one year moratorium on data centers until we ensure every community is informed and protected.
  2. Oct 13, 2026 (Montgomery town hall)
I believe that a moratorium would probably not even last a year.
  3. Oct 20, 2026 (WVTM 13 sit-down interview)
I want to make sure every community knows exactly what's going on in their community, and that they have the final say.

CHOOSE Act (education savings accounts)

  1. Oct 13, 2026 (Montgomery town hall)
Those kids made a decision and their parents to change schools and benefited. They believe so, and the income caps were on, so we'll phase it out. But we'll let those kids graduate.
  2. Oct 20, 2026 (WVTM 13 sit-down interview, on phasing out CHOOSE Act money for private school expenses)
I want to see public education investments, not money going away.

Data centers: tax breaks

  1. Jul 27, 2026 (Governing agenda speech on pausing new data center development)
We can have data centers in Alabama but only after we take a year or so to get it right, to put the guardrails in place, and only after local concerns are addressed and communities agree to the details and protections.
  2. Oct 12, 2026 (Town hall in Fort Deposit, Lowndes County)
Right now, I think we need to amend Alabama law, so they don't get any tax breaks. They don't get tax incentives, and they don't get any tax abatements.

Doug Jones is not a current member of Congress, so there is no congressional roll-call record to show. As U.S. Senator from Alabama (2018–2021), Jones has a state legislative voting record: Congress.gov sponsored legislation & roll-call record (U.S. Senate, 2018–2021).
